    Elizabeth Jean Carroll (born December 12, ) is an American journalist, author, and advice columnist. Her "Ask E. Jean" column appeared in Elle magazine from through , becoming one of the longest-running advice columns in American publishing.[1] In her book, What Do We Need Men For?: A Modest Proposal, Carroll accused CBS CEO Les Moonves and Donald Trump of sexually assaulting her in the mids. Both Moonves and Trump denied the allegations.[2][3][4]

    Carroll sued Trump for defamation and battery in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York (originally filed in the New York Supreme Court). Ellis III of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. From to , she was an assistant United States attorney at the United States Attorney's Office in the District of Columbia.[3][4] From to , she served as chief of the criminal section in the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia, and in , she served as the assistant deputy attorney general for Public Safety.[2]
