Police said at the weekend preliminary reports indicated that there was no foul play in the death of Maqashalala.
Police spokesperson captain Balan Muthan told DispatchLIVE that when their team arrived at Maqashalala’s place, the door of her house was locked from inside.

Nathi Mthethwa, South Africas minister of sport, arts and culture, in a statement on Sunday morning said that he was "deeply saddened by the passing of Noxolo Maqashalala and Menzi Ngubane".

Noxolo is back to grace our TV screens
AFTER disappearing from our screens for four years, television actress Noxolo Maqashalala is back with a bang.
Maqashalala, who played Viwe in the drama series Tsha Tsha, returns in a new show, Intersexions.
The actress, who was born in Mount Frere in Eastern Cape, has landed the major role of Mandisa. The first episode of the drama series was flighted last night on SABC1 at pm.
A hard-hitting, innovative drama series with 25 separate but interlinked episodes, Intersexions examines issues relating to love, sex and relationships.
Maqashalala says: "It is a very educational drama series driven by HIV-Aids. It looks at how our lives intersect and criss-cross with others' in ways we don't even know about.
"Take for example, you do not know your partner's partners. You do not know their status. These are the kind of questions that the show tries to explore."
