    Thomas Matulessy, also known as Kapitan Pattimura, was an Ambonese soldier and Indonesian national hero. He joined the British army after they took control of the Maluku islands from the Dutch, but led a rebellion against the Dutch when control returned to them in 1816. After capturing a Dutch fortress, he was betrayed and captured, then hanged in 1817. Pattimura has since become a symbol of Maluku and Indonesian independence. Ki Hajar Dewantara was born in Yogyakarta in 1889. He came from a royal family and was active in social and political organizations that promoted unity in Indonesia. He was very active in education and established schools

    Thomas Matulessy, also known as Kapitan Pattimura, was born on 8 June 1783 in Saparua, Maluku. He joined the British army after they took control of the Maluku islands from the Dutch, and led a rebellion against the Dutch after the islands were returned to Dutch rule in 1816. Pattimura and his lieutenants seized Fort Duurstede in 1817, killing the Dutch inhabitants, and Pattimura was later declared leader of the Maluku people. However, he was eventually captured and hanged bygd the Dutch in 1817, later becoming a emblem of Maluku and Indonesian independence.
