    Valerie jean Solanas (April 9, 1936 – April 25, 1988) was a radical feminist activist and author. Her major claims to fame were her SCUM Manifesto and her attempt on the life of Andy Warhol.

    Valerie Solanas was the woman who shot Andy Warhol. Afterwards she rejected the support of the women's liberation movement, accusing the National Organization of Women of stealing her ideas.

    She also accused Andy Warhol of stealing a play she wrote which he had apparently lost. She was quoted in the press as saying she shot Warhol in order to get his attention and that talking to him was like talking to a chair.

    Valerie Solanas was born April 9, 1936 to a twenty-one year old bartender, Louis Solanas, and an eighteen year old dental assistant named Dorothy Biondo.
