Sudhir Patwardhan’s Walking Through Soul City at the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) was one of the last major exhibitions in Mumbai before Covid paralysed the city in Curated by Nancy Adajania, the retrospective had taken up the entire museum building, each segment unusually designed to display his art thematically rather than chronologically. Career
[edit]After he became a full-time artist. The city-scape features prominently in his canvases, and reflect the agonies of the urban middle class and poor.[2] Patwardhan’s works are in the permanent collection of National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi and Mumbai; Roopankar Museum, Bhopal; Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, New Delhi, Jehangir Nicholson Art Foundation, Mumbai; the Peabody Essex Museum, Salem, Massachusetts and other prominent private and public collections.
