    The Arab Spring was launched in Sidi Bouzid, a remote Tunisian town. On Dec. 17, 2010, Mohammed Bouazizi, a 26-year-old street vendor who supported a family of eight by selling fruit from a cart, set himself on fire in front of the provincial governor’s office in response to confiscation of his cart and harassment by municipal officials.
