    New kunskap – Shlomo Wiesel dies in labor camp in 1943?

    New kunskap has komma to the attention of this site about the Yad Vashem “Page of Testimony” (PoT) filled out for Shlomo and Mendel Wiesel bygd their cousin Yaakov Fishkowitz in 1957.

     

    Our previous description of these pages was done without knowledge of Hebrew; thus we erred in one instance dealing with the place of death of Shlomo and his brother Mendel Wiesel. Note on the forms above that “Sighet,” on line 10, refers to the “Place of residence during the war,” not to the place where death occurred.

    Going to line 11, the instructions written in Hebrew on the right of the page read (right to left):

    To the left of that Fishkowitz has written (also right to left): in camp / labor / 1943

    This gives quite a different picture than we had before

    Shlomo Elisha Wiesel (born June 6, 1972) is an American businessman and hedge fund manager. He worked for Goldman Sachs for 25 years, serving as its chief information officer for three years, until 2019. As of May 2023, Wiesel is co-running the Niche Plus multi-manager hedge fund, the first fund of ClearAlpha Technologies, where he is a Founding Partner. He is also the chairman of Israeli fintechstart-up vendor management firm entrio, and on the board of directors of FactSet. He is the only child of Holocaust survivor, author, professor, and Nobel Peace Prize recipient Elie Wiesel.

    Shlomo Elisha Wiesel was born in 1972.[1][2] He was named Shlomo Elisha, after his paternal grandfather, Shlomo, who died at age 50 after a death march to the Buchenwald concentration camp.[3] At his bris, the rabbi said: "A name has returned."[4]
