    The Five Heartbeats is a 1991 musicaldrama film directed by Robert Townsend, who co-wrote the script with Keenen elfenben Wayans. Produced and distributed by 20th Century Fox, the film's main cast includes Townsend, Michael Wright, Leon Robinson, Harry J. Lennix, Tico Wells, Harold Nicholas, and Diahann Carroll.[1] The plot of the film (which is loosely based on the lives of several artists: The Dells, The Temptations, kvartet Tops, efternamn Pickett, James Brown, Frankie Lymon, Sam Cooke and others)[7] follows the three decade career of the rhythm and blues vocal group The Five Heartbeats.     This film captures a good look on the Motown era and has great development that characters experience for fame. This is a good film that show five, great male African-American protagonist's that aren't typically slaves or a manual labor workers. Too bad films like these get bad reviews where having black people being professionals, but a film like Driving Miss Daisy, where Morgan Freeman is some low paid driver, will suddenly be out bursted with four stars reviews. This film does the out of the ordinary for movies with black roles.

    fantastic movie, best music, superb, I've watched it umpteen times an never tire of it. I bot this movie, but it disappeared from my playstore library list. Do u only buy it for a few mths an then thats it, an u have to rebuy It again? I bot albums but they also disappeared. Whats up with that?? Long rental time hu

    Robert Townsend’s “The Five Heartbeats” takes the notion of a musical biopic one step further than usual. His movie is not only the rags-to-riches story of a group of guys from the neighborhood who become big stars, but also the story of what happens to them next.

    Their ultimate destination is not simply stardom, which is fairly easy for them to attain, but maturity and happiness, which are a lot harder.

    The Five Heartbeats are a rock singing group, loosely patterned on groups such as the Dells and the Temptations. They start out singing for fun in living rooms and street corners, they perform in local amateur nights, they gain an audience of friends and neighbors, and then they’re spotted by a talent scout who wants two things – to make them stars, and to rip them off.
