Nel Ust Wyclef Jean[2] (; born October 17, )[2][3] is a Haitian rapper and record producer. At the age of nine,[4] he emigrated with his family to the Northeastern United States. In , he formed the New Jersey–based hip hop trio Fugees with fellow musicians Lauryn Hill and Pras Michel; Jean served as its lead producer and guitarist. The group released the albums Blunted on Reality () and The Score (), the latter becoming one of the best-selling albums of all time. Following their success, Jean released his debut solo album, Wyclef Jean Presents The Carnival (), which yielded the Billboard Hot top ten single "Gone till November".

Nel Ust Wyclef Jean is an rapper, musician and actor. Jean was born on October 17, , in a hut with no electricity, in Croix-des-Bouquest, Haiti. His parents, Nazarene Pastor Gesner and mother Yolanda immigrated to the United States, and in , Jean and his three siblings came to the U.S, settling with their parents in Brooklyn, New York. The family relocated to New Jersey, and in , Jean formed the group The Tranzlator Crew with cousin Prakazrel “Pras” Michel and Lauryn Hill. Jean graduated from Vailsburg High School in Newark, New Jersey in , and briefly attended East Nazarene College in Quincy, Massachusetts, Five Town College in Dix Hills, New York, and later Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.
