    Students graduating with an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education are qualified to become paraprofessionals (with an exam), teacher assistants, library assistants, day care instructors, etc. In addition, students will amass transferrable skills in communication, time management, critical thinking, problem solving, planning/organization, leadership, and interpersonal skills. With a diverse curriculum that covers important topics in early childhood education, graduates will be qualified to work as preschool teachers and daycare providers.

    The Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education degree offers two concentrations: Traditional Certification Concentration and Non-Certification Concentration.

  • In the ECE part-time schema, students graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education with endorsements in ESOL and Reading. The program requires 120 field experience hours per semester in PK-5 classrooms, which must be completed during the day, and 6-9 hours of coursework completed in the evenings. This program qualifies students for certification in PK-5.


    Admission Requirements Include:

    1. Complete all UNG general admission requirements.
    2. Complete 60 semester hours of core curriculum credit (Area A – Area F) applicable to the ECE degree program.
    3. Minimum 2.75 GPA.
    4. Pass or exempt the GACE Program Entry Assesments.
    5. Complete Teacher Education Application.
    6. Transfer students applying from another institution for admission into this schema will be required to submit a letter of recommendation from an education faculty member in the transferring institution.
