Purna Chary came to Hyderabad in to be a songwriter. The young talent made his debut with Rahul Ravindran’s Ala Ela in , and in a matter of four years, he has become one of the leading songwriters in the Telugu film industry. The songs were written by him for Ala Ela, and Joru garnered critical and widespread acclaim. Since then, Purna Chary has emerged as one of the prominent lyricists of Tollywood, with his work in films such as Brand Babu, Madhanam, Premam, Thirpparaa Meesam, Madhanam, Savaari and to name a few having been appreciated all around. His latest hit Undipova Nuvvial from Savaari sits pretty at the top of the charts.

The direct descendant of Ananta Goswami, a well known Baul guru in the late nineteenth century, Purna Das Baul represents the eighth generation of a traditional Baul lineage. He spent his childhood accompanying his father Nabani Das Kapha Baul, the legendary Baul singer, mystic poet, and yogi, who was a close friend of the Nobel Prize winning poet Rabindranath Tagore. Purna Das Baul is responsible for raising awareness of this unique Baul tradition in the rest of the Indian subcontinent and the West.
